In order to become a lifeguard, you need to pass the National Lifeguard class Standards Test. The National Lifeguard class Standards test consists of four phases:
Physical Fitness Testing
Lifeguard class tests your physical ability to perform rescues and assist others, as well as your ability to control the environment around you. You must be able to swim, tread water, tread stairs, tread water, dive, and swim with a victim in a confined space. You will learn lifesaving skills such as CPR, water safety, self-rescue, and rescue of swimmers. The course is designed for people who have completed high school and are between the ages of 18 and 25. It is also suitable for those who have some swimming experience and have completed a swimmer’s card or lifeguard card.
To become a lifeguard CPR training is important. It can save a person’s life. Lifeguard training is also very important to help them become certified. CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This is an advanced life-saving skill that is often taught in schools and in the community.
If you are going to be a lifeguard, then first aid should be one of your priorities. First aid skills can be used in many situations. When you have someone injured in a pool or in the water, you can provide first aid. If you see someone having a heart attack, you can perform CPR. First aid is also used for people who have been in a serious car accident.
How To Deal With The Children
As a lifeguard, you may also learn how to deal with children who are injured in pools and other water hazards. Injuries can happen when people fall in the water and get hurt. When this happens, you will need to assess the injury and determine if it is minor or serious.
You may be able to help a child who has fallen into a pool, but you will need to know how to perform CPR. If an adult falls in the water, you may need to perform CPR, and if that is not possible, you will need to administer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Some people think that lifeguards are just there to watch the children.
How to deal with children who are injured in pools and other water hazards As you can imagine, many of us have had the experience of coming home from work or school and seeing a child injured in the house, yard or garden. We might have called an ambulance, but even that may not have been necessary as most of these injuries are relatively minor and will heal quickly. However, if the injury is more serious, or if there is a risk of drowning, you should contact the emergency services immediately.
A lifeguard is also a swimming instructor who teaches others about swimming safety and proper techniques. A swimming instructor can work at a pool, or teach lessons at a local school or community centre.
To become a certified lifeguard, you must be at least 16 years old and have completed at least 6 months of swimming lessons. If you are a senior citizen or pregnant, you can still work as a lifeguard if you pass the test. There is a fee for the test, depending on the state you live in.
